Hyderabad: Man shot dead over property dispute in Madhapur | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: An argument between two persons over a property dispute, led to firing in which one person died and another injured at the upmarket Madhapur in the wee hours of Monday. The deceased in the past was awarded life conviction in a criminal case.
Deputy commissioner of police, G Sandeep Rao, said that the victim, identified as Ismail, died after suffering a single bullet, whereas his friend Jahangir escaped after suffering a bullet injury. As per the eyewitnesses, it was one Jeelani who opened fire at Ismail in the presence of another accused Mujahid.
“Ismail suffered a bullet at point blank range from the rearside. Jahangir too suffered injury but he is safe. Following the murder, the two accused- Mujahid and Jeelani- escaped whereas Ismail and the injured were shifted to OGH, where Ismail was declared brought dead,” DCP said.
The weapon used by the accused is suspected to be a countrymade gun. During the preliminary investigation, police found that both the victim and the accused Mujahid were friends and together they were in jail for some time. It was during this time, they became close.
“There has been a dispute between Ismail and Mujahid over a piece of property and sharing of money. A week ago too, there was an argument between the two,” one of his relatives told the media.
DCP said that both the victim and Mujahid have been into real estate business and deal in plots of land at Zaheerabad and Sanga Reddy. The murder took place about 3-4 meters from Neeru’s junction in Madhapur.
Both the victim and accused met each other around 10pm on Sunday to talk about their dispute. They met at Masab Tank and from there they went to Banjara Hills, followed by Punjagutta before reaching Madhapur at around 1am on Monday. At the time of reaching Madhapur, both the victim and Mujahid were in the same car, whereas the victim’s friends were in another car. Accused’s associates followed them on a bike. The firing took place at 3.45am on Monday.
“We need to find out whether the murder was pre-planned or was it spontanious. When Jeelani opened fire, Mujahid was close by. On seeing the firing, Jahangir tried to intervene and too suffered injury. Preliminary information showed that both the victim and accused Mujahid have criminal history. The victim was in the past awarded life imprisonment, reportedly in a murder case,” police said. Four teams of Cyberabad police are in search of the missing accused.
