Hyderabad: Citizens kick off overseas plans as international flights resume | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: As international travel resumed on Sunday, after a gap of two years, travel agents reported a rush in bookings with travellers from Hyderabad grabbing seats for an array of destinations including Malaysia, Columbia, Singapore, Australia, London, among other places.
Travel agents said that with summer vacation around the corner, they are expecting to see good traffic during May, June, and July months, with many already started enquiring about several destinations including Germany, the United Kingdom, Bali, among others.
“With most of the countries easing Covid restrictions and reopening borders, people are making use of this time to travel to different places. There is a lot of demand for Malaysia, Singapore as they started allowing only vaccinated individuals into the country without any restrictions,” said Abdul Majid Faheem, chairman of Travel Agents Federation of India, Hyderabad. Faheem said that people are also trying to make use of flights with multi stops to explore multiple locations.
“During the pandemic, most of the flights were direct ones, but with airlines again offering flights with a stop or two, many are preferring these flights,” he added.
The travel agents said that they are confident that at least until July there won’t be any problem when it comes to international travel. They said that the increased fares — both airlines and hotels, are not going to discourage people from travelling as many are looking forward to taking a long vacation as they are stuck at home for last two years.
“Unless cases go up, we don’t see demand for international travel going down. Many families have already started planning a vacation du- ring summer and we are positive that we will be reaching pre-pandemic figures by May,” said Siraj Ansari, president of Tour Operators Association of Telangana.
Ansari said that he had already started the process for his Malaysian visa and will be travelling to Malaysia during mid of April.
A resident Prakash V said that he is planning to travel to Australia in April. “I haven’t seen my grandchildren in the last two years. Before restrictions are again imposed, I want to go and spend some time with them,” he added.
