Gold plating works will not obstruct darshan at Tirumala temple: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams | Hyderabad News
Amid speculation that the sanctum sanctorum of the Tirumala temple would be closed for pilgrim worship for six to eight months due to the gold plating work, TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy said works would be completed by the end of 2023 and pilgrim worship will continue as usual.
Venugopal Dikshitulu, one of the chief priests at Tirumala temple, also denied rumours about the closure of the hill shrine for pilgrim worship.
“The daily worship and darshan will not be affected by the gold plating works of Anandanilaya Gopuram. However, a week ahead of the commencement of works, certain Agama practices like Balalayam will be taken up by setting up a temporary daru (idol). Devotees can continue to have Srivari darshan of mula murti.
However, all Arjitha sevas would be performed in ekantham only from morning suprabatam to ekantha seva in the night as per Agama traditions,” he said, adding that the gold plating works will start on March 1, 2023 and will be completed within six months.
During previous gold plating works in 1957-58 and during Balalaya festival in 2018, the Srivari mula murti darshan and Arjitha sevas for utsava idols were performed without any break, he added.
