Former Andhra Pradesh minister Vatti Vasant Kumar passes away | Visakhapatnam News


VISAKHAPATNAM: Former Andhra Pradesh minister and senior Congress leader Vatti Vasant Kumar passed away in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Sunday. The 70-year-old had been facing health ailments after a kidney transplantation.
The former MLA from Unguturu constituency breathed his last at the Apollo Hospital while undergoing treatment.
His family nembers are shifting the body from Vizag to Pulla in West Godavari, the native village of Vasant.
The two-time MLA from Unguturu in West Godavari had been keeping himself away from active politics and also from Congress party since 2014.
The strong follower of former chief minister YS Raja Sekhar Reddy was elected for the first time as an MLA in 2004 and retained the seat in 2009.
He was the rural development minister in YSR and Rosiah Cabinet and was tourism minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet.
