Dow Jones falls from record levels at the open; stimulus in focus
Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday, slipping from record highs following several disappointing quarterly earnings reports, while investors closely tracked progress in passing a proposed $1.9 trillion stimulus plan.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 111.9 points, or 0.36%, at the open to 31,274.28. The S&P500 fell 9.41 points, or 0.24%, at the open to 3,906.18, while the Nasdaq Composite was up 3.99 points, or 0.02%, to 13,991.63 at the opening bell.
