congress: No Governor’s address is against the spirit of the Constitution: Congress | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Stating that this could be the last budget of the TRS government as chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to go for an early election, Telangana Congress leaders A Revanth Reddy and N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party workers will take the fight to the streets if its legislators are not allowed to speak on the floor of the house in the State Assembly during the budget session.
While Revanth said that KCR may seek dissolution of the Assembly in December this year itself, Uttam predicted that the elections to Telangana Assembly could be held along with Karnataka Assembly polls in May 2023. “The Congress workers and leaders should stay put in their respective polling booth areas and Assembly constituencies,” Uttam said.
They were speaking at a meeting of top leaders convened by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday to discuss the issues to be raised and strategy to be adopted in the budget session of the Assembly.
Bhatti found fault with the state government for planning to go ahead with its budget 2022-23 presentation without the Governor’s address on Monday. “Presenting the budget without the Governor’s address is against the spirit of the Constitution. Also, the TRS strategy behind this move is to muzzle the voice of the opposition, mainly the Congress in the House. The Congress would have pin-pointed and nailed the failures of TRS government while replying to the Governor’s address in the House,” Bhatti said.
It is not proper on the part of the TRS government to state that the session was not prorogued and added that the non-proroguing of the session for such a long time long is nothing but creating a sort of Constitutional crisis by now allowing the Governor to address the Legislature” Bhatti alleged.
Later, Revanth told reporters that KCR is trying to project as if TRS is against the Modi-led BJP government by not allowing Governor’s address. The budget session should be held for at least 21 days if not 30 days.
