CBI arrests son of YSRC MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy in Delhi liquor scam | Vijayawada News
VIJAYAWADA: The CBI sleuths arrested ruling YSR Congress MP from Ongole Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy’s son Magunta Raghava Reddy in the Delhi liquor scam on Saturday.
Raghava Reddy’s name figured in the scam several months before his arrest. His name popped up in the initial enquiry of the liquor scam. However, his father and MP, Srinivasula Reddy, denied the involvement of his son in the scam.
The Magunta family is into liquor business for several decades. They have been the South India distributors for the UB Group, which is based in Karnataka.
The MP is planning to launch his son into politics in the 2024 general elections. Srinivasulu Reddy has close contacts with several political parties, though he currently represents the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
He was MP from Ongole and Nellore representing the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party in the past. He also enjoys greater connections in the BJP at the national level.
