Boy playing hide-and-seek suffocates, dies in Telangana | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: A game of hide-and-seek proved fatal for a 10-year-old boy who was suffocated to death in a heap of cotton into which he squeezed himself to hide from his younger siblings.
Chennur Abhishek, a class IV student in Kannepalli village of Koutala mandal in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, died in the 9-ft tall cotton heap on January 2 unable to breathe.
Abhishek along with his brother and sister were playing the game like they usually do. He made a hole in the heap of cotton that was placed in the house and squeezed himself into it. After their attempts to find their brother failed, the siblings went to the neighbour’s house to play.
After a couple of hours, the siblings went inside the house and found the protruding feet of Abhishek from the cotton heap and alerted their parents. Abhishek was shifted to a primary health centre in a nearby village, but he had died by then.
In the hope that he could be revived, the parents took him to a hospital in Kagaznagar town, but the doctors pronounced him as brought dead. “The boy who made a hole into the heap of cotton to hide in it found it difficult to come out and died due to suffocation,” a police official said.
