Banjara Hills accident victim was sole breadwinner for two families | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Seven years after they lost their mother to a freak accident, three sisters – Avidi Sravani (18), Jhansi (21) and Devi (20) – woke up to another tragic news on the first day of 2023. This time it was their father, 46-year-old Srinivas who had died after a overspeeding car rammed into him and another pedestrian outside Royal Tiffin Centre on Road No 3, Banjara Hills.
Srinivas was having tea at the stall when tragedy struck. Recalling the phone call she received from the police around 10.30 am on Sunday, Sravani says it left her speechless.

“It took me a while to comprehend what they were telling me… my father had left home for work on Saturday morning hale and hearty and the next thing I hear is the cops asking me to come and identify his body,” the painter’s youngest daughter said. Sravani still cannot believe she’s lost both her parents so prematurely.
In 2015, her mother Rama Lakshmi died of electrocution while washing the floor of a local shiva temple in their village, Ravulapalem, under AP’s Konaseema district. She was only 38.
Now, with Srinivas’ death, the distraught 18-year-old says she has nothing to look forward to. “I am currently living with my relatives but feel hopeless…I just completed by Intermediate and wanted to pursue higher studies. But I am not sure if I’ll be able to that now,” the dejected teenager said. Her other two sisters are married.
But it isn’t just Sravani who’s lost her sole breadwinner. So has Sita and her two young kids aged 10 and 12 years. Srinivas had married Sita in 2019 – she too had lost her husband by then – and were living together in Kondapur. “I last spoke to my husband at around 9 pm on Saturday.
I woke up to my phone ringing relentlessly in the morning and was dumbfounded on hearing the news. We were looking forward to a future together as things were finally falling in place after Covid…but now it’s all shattered,” Sita, a homemaker, told TOI. Rebuilding life here on, both emotionally and financially, will be an uphill task she said – still in disbelief about Srinivas’ death.
