VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Pradesh government plans to introduce exclusive ready-to-eat seafood snack outlets as part of the Fish Andhra concept in the state.
As part of it, it had sanctioned 37 outlets in the city and district. These outlets would be set up in major junctions, tourist spots, and urban areas including commercial spaces, highways, eat streets, Universities, and shopping malls.
Though vizag is the largest exporter of marine species, it does not have sufficient seafood outlets to date.
The new concept of outlets of seafood snacks such as prawns, crabs, and fish to fill the gap, sources said. The first seafood snacks outlet of co-branding with Best Fresh Fries (BFF) of Hyderabad will be open for the customers in Pendurthi area in a couple of days. A few more seafood snacks outlets would be started in the Fish Andhra units on beach road, Jagadamba Junction, Madhurawada, and other places.
Fish and fishing remain central to Vizag’s economy. When it comes to marine exports Vizag port is considered one of the top contributors and AP is the largest exporter of fish and shrimp in the country. The AP government had already aimed to enhance seafood consumption and has focused on Sea fish sales. The government is now linking Fish Andhra outlets with the seafood snacks outlets which are called co-branding outlets, by providing subsidies.
