Andhra Pradesh: Anakapalli cops solve more than 11,000 cases in one year | Visakhapatnam News

VISAKHAPATNAM: Anakapalli district police in Andhra Pradesh in a record attempt solved 11,370 cases in a year and the efforts of the cops reduced road accidents, murder, and attempts to murder, and also convictions in the offenses had reached 67 per cent.
At the same time, cybercrime cases number was increased and the recovery rate in property offenses is only 54 per cent.
The Anakapalli superintendent of police Gautami Sali told media persons that district cops solved 11,730 cases out of 17, 284 cases under investigation, including the 9375 under investigation old cases and also 7909 cases registered this year.
District cops recovered Rs 1.24 crore in 193 cases out of 2.26 crore valued property stolen in 389 cases.
The police boss of the district Gautami Sali said that 13 murders, most of them are family disputes, were registered in the year compared to 16 in the year 2021.
Murder attempts were 30 as against 45 in the previous year while murder for gain was two each in the last two years.
“The conviction rate in the cases was 67 per cent as the accused in 4114 cases were jailed out of 6138 cases. More than 12,000 cases were disposed of, including 3702 FIR cases and 8424 petty cases through National Lok Adalat,” She said.
She further added that cybercrime cases have increased as 59 cases were registered.
“We have created awareness among the public, especially with women police about cyber crimes and loan apps by taking up door-to-door campaigns,” the SP said.
Focussing more on women’s protection, the district police have taken up awareness campaigns in villages, schools, and colleges through awareness chariot. Cops have taken up special drives and 2.22 lakh Disha app downloads and registration were done.
“We have received 4,270 calls through this app including 3,671 testing calls and 12 cases were registered, besides, 567 complaints were settled mutually,” the police boss of the district Gautami said.
District cops registered 2,645 drunken drive cases as against 74 cases in the previous year. Police registered 7,597 cases of consuming liquor in open places and also 2.21 lakh challans were imposed on the traffic rules violators.
With the safety measures of the police, 8 per cent of road accidents have come down and 4 per cent of the death rate was also decreased compared to the previous year.
Anakapalli cops identified 37 black spots as part of controlling road accidents.
