adilabad: Wa Status Triggers Unrest In Adilabad | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: A man was arrested in Adilabad after he allegedly uploaded an objectionable WhatsApp status message, which reportedly hurt the religious sentiments of a community and they took objection to it. Later, a large number of protestors from both the communities gathered in front of Adilabad I Town police station, which forced police to resort to mild lathicharge on Saturday night.
On Saturday evening, locals of a community caught a 32-year-old man and roughed him up for uploading an allegedly objectionable message on his WhastsApp status. Police took the man, who belong to the Scheduled Caste community, to the police station.
On learning about this, agitated protestors reached the police station and started raising slogans that action should be taken against the accused. Meanwhile, members of other community too reached the police station demanding that he should be released.
To prevent the situation going out of hand, police resorted to mild lathi charge and dispersed the protestors.
