The arrested accused have been identified as M Sridevi (30) and her lover K Mukundha Rao (35), a resident of Mulapeta.
M Gavarayya alias Adivayya (35), a resident of Mulapeta village under Kotabommali Mandal in the district was found dead with stab injuries on his body at an isolated place near Banjirupeta on February 9.
Police said Gavarayya and Mukundha Rao were both small-scale farmers residing in the same village and had a close friendship. However, several months ago, Sridevi, Gavarayya’s spouse, started a romantic affair with Mukundha Rao after they encountered each other near the farm field.
Gavarayya had assaulted his wife and warned her after suspecting that she had an extra-marital affair.
Sridevi decided to eliminate her husband Gavarayya with the support of her lover Mukundha Rao and she hatched a plan.
On the night of February 8, Mukundha Rao called Gavarayya and asked him to come to Banjirupeta junction on a bike to take fertilisers. When Gavarayya reached the spot, Rao took him to an isolated place and stabbed him with a knife to death and fled the spot. Gavarayya was found dead in a pool of blood the next morning.
Our investigation has revealed that Mukundha Rao murdered Gavarayya. The accused confessed to the crime. We arrested Sridevi and Mukundha Rao on Saturday night and seized the bike and knife, the police added.
