7 Comps Vanish From Nat’l Police Academy, 1 Held | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: A contract worker at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) — training ground for IPS officers — allegedly stole seven desktops from the premises and has now been booked. The theft of the desktops worth Rs 2.10 lakh came to light after an internal audit. The accused had got the job at the academy only a month ago.
During the course of the investigation, SVPNPA staff found one of the missing desktop with one B Vishnu, a resident of weaker section colony in Shivrampally, who revealed that he had bought it from B Chandrasekhar, a resident of Shyamala Nagar in Shivrampally.
The staff realised that Chandrasekhar is a contract employee working in the IT Cell of the academy and lodged a complaint with Rajendranagar police on Thursday evening. Chandrasekhar has been working at SVPNPA on contract through a third-party agency, Akashra Enterprises India Pvt Ltd, the academy staff said.
“He is an engineering graduate from Srikakulam and started working at the SVPNPA about a month ago on contract. He took the seven desktops out of the campus in the guise of routine maintenance, but did not bring them back,” a cop at the Rajendranagar police station said.
Based on the complaint, Rajendranagar police registered a case under IPC section 381 (theft by a clerk, servant or an employee). According to sources, he has been detained by cops who are in the process of recovering the stolen computers.
