Congress war room raid: Telangana HC stays cop notice against 3 | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Three youngsters, who were picked up by police from the Congress war room for allegedly posting defamatory posts against the chief minister, got relief with Telangana high court on Wednesday staying CrPC 41-A notices issued to them.
Justice K Surender passed this interim order after hearing the pleas of the trio – Ishank Sharma, Prashant Tatineni and Manda Sripratap. They were detained by cops and later let off when Congress moved a habeas corpus petition, seeking the production of the three persons before the court.

The judge stayed the further process that may follow after 41-A notices and posted the case to December 23 for pronouncing an order on the validity of 41-A notices.
Police had served section 41-A notices on the three youngsters, asking them to appear before the investigating officer. Senior counsel CV Mohan Reddy, who appeared for them, said police booked the case against the three youth for no reason.
Public prosecutor C Pratap Reddy, however, said the accused youth were assigned a contract by Congress to defame BRS. “Their task was to prepare video scoops against BRS leadership and propagate them in the name of ‘Telangana galam’. They made a defamatory scoop in the name of ‘Mayabazar’ against CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, minister KT Rama Rao and MLA K Kavitha,” he said.
Pratap Reddy said police, who seized incriminating material from the possession of the three accused, had slapped IPC sections of 505-B and 469 for making defamatory videos by morphing photos, etc., against the trio.
Mohan Reddy argued that making video scoops in politics was not a crime and urged the court to set aside the 41-A notices issued to the petitioners. “Their names were not in the FIR which was registered a month after the receipt of the complaint,” he said.
He sought Rs 20 lakh compensation for each of the trio because they were subjected to illegal detention for more than 18 hours.
