HYDERABAD: TRS working president and minister KT Rama Rao said the state government will increase the number of pensions by another 10 lakh from August 15.
Interacting with women beneficiaries of various schemes from 33 districts during a web conference on Thursday, KTR said the state government treats women beneficiaries like sisters and urged people to celebrate Raksha Bandhan in a big way on Friday.
Referred to the TRS government as a welfare government, KTR said: “Four lakh beedi workers are receiving pensions in the state. During CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s tenure, old age, widow, beedi workers and Aasara pensions have increased ten-fold.”
Giving a call to TRS rank and file to tie rakhis to KCR’s photos and flexis on Raksha Bandhan day, the minister said nearly 15 lakh widow pensions are extended in Telangana, which is a record in the country. “SHE teams were created for the safety of women, loans are being sanctioned to self-help groups for economic self-reliance of women and residential schools are set up to impart education to girl students,” he claimed.
He expressed the hope that the Centre will soon pass the women reservation bill. The government had already passed a resolution in the assembly supporting 50% reservation for women and sent it to the Centre.
KTR said the TRS government has always given priority to health and education sectors.
