HYDERABAD: Sensing a threat posed by water-borne diseases amid the heavy rains, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has started checking the quality in water being supplied in the city.
In certain areas, dispensaries and hospitals have witnessed cases of diarrhoea and dengue.
In Old City of Hyderabad, a team of HMWSSB officials visited and checked water quality.
The water supply was stopped in the areas where complaints of water pollution were received, director (operations) A Krishna told TOI.
Meanwhile, HMWSSB managing director M Dana Kishore along with senior officials visited Begumpet slums and checked chlorination levels by collecting water samples on the spot.
He also interacted with locals in Patigadda area and enquired about water contamination.
“The water board is making all the efforts in chlorination to reduce turbidity. Boil the water before consuming it for the safety of your health,” M Dana Kishore made a plea.
