After Covid lull, Eid cheer in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: After a two-year lull, city residents are finally going allout this Eid-ul-Fitr. Without Covid restrictions playing spoilsport, plans for celebrations and gatherings are on full-swing. The hectic shopping seen across city is self-explanatory.
Since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, many restrictions including social distancing norms were being implemented strictly forcing people to stay away from gatherings (Eid-Milap) or exchanging the traditional greetings of “Eid Mubarak” while hugging each other. This year, however, city residents hope to once again mark the occasion in a way that is reminiscent of pre-Covid Eid.
People who have been hesitant in opening their doors to guests over the past two years are finally happy to welcome visiting relatives and friends. With many people vaccinated and fewer Covid cases than before, residents are marking this Ramzan in a stressfree atmosphere. Children too are partaking in the festivities since this Eid is falling during the summer vacations.
Even during Ramzan several Iftar parties were organised. “For the past two years we missed having sheerkhorma with relatives and friends. This year it’s time to compensate,” said Syeda Jabeen Moini, a homemaker from Nawab Sahab Kunta in Old City.
Not just festivities, people also expressed happiness with the full-fledged arrangements being made for performing Eid Namaz. Over the past two years, special Eid prayers (congregation) were also restricted at eidgahs and at mosques. Arrangements have been made at all eidgahs across Hyderabad for large scale congregations on the occasion of Eid.
