Minor raped by 60-year-old neighbour in Telangana | Hyderabad News
WARANGAL: In a gruesome case of sexual assault, a 10-yearold girl was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old man in Warangal town, on Tuesday. The incident came to light on Wednesday when family members of the minor victim attacked the offender’s residence, leading to clash between two groups.
Following a complaint by the victim’s aunt, the police booked a case under POCSO (protection of children from sexually offences) Act and IPC 376 against the culprit, identified as a daily wage labourer, and arrested him. Investigation in the case currently underway.
According to initial findings cops said that the accused, a daily wage labourer, took advantage of the girl — living next door — when he realised she was alone at home and lured her with an offer to buy her pencils. He then took to an abandoned residence and assaulted her.
Neighbours were alerted and rushed to the spot on hearing the girl scream. By then, Ghouse had fled from the place.
“It was the neighbours who brought the incident to the notice of Intezargunjj police and helped the family lodge a complaint. Inspector D Mallesham constituted special teams to nab the culprit and he was arrested in the wee hours on Wednesday,” said assistant commissioner of police, K Giri Kumar.
The victim was later sent to the government maternity hospital for medical examination and handed over to her aunt, Nandini, who she and her mother currently live with. The victim’s father died of some illness in the past.
Outraged by the incident relatives and local youth attacked the accused’s home on Wednesday and even damaged some property.
