raghavender: Hyderabad: Businessmen chased, shot at from close range | Hyderabad News
Clues team gathered evidence from the spot. Both victims were shot at at least once each but only pellet injuries were found on Srinivas Reddy’s body due to fall and not bullet injuries. Cops said that Raghavender was an accused in a double murder case and Srinivas was an accused in an assault case.
Interestingly, while Srinivas’ body was found in a plot which is about 400 metres away from the agricultural land development venture he was pursuing, a 7. 65 mm live round was found on the internal road 100 metres away from his body. While 7. 65 mm round was recovered from Raghavender’s chest, no bullet injury was found on Srinivas Reddy’s body.
According to sources, after the autopsy at Ibrahimpatnam hospital, doctors told the investigators that there were no bullet injuries on Srinivas Reddy’s body. “There were seven pellet injuries on Srinivas Reddy’s head but no bullet injury. He was shot twice with shotgun on the back of his head and due to the fall, suffered injuries on the front of his face. There was a blood clot in his brain but no projectiles were retrieved from his body,” said a forensic expert.
Police suspect that the assaulters fired two buckshot rounds containing pellets from a close range at the victim. “We suspect that more than one weapon was used and that country-made weapons were used,” said an investigator.
Cops suspect that the assailants stopped the SUV of the victims and somehow made Srinivas get out of the vehicle, chased him and shot at him. Meanwhile, Raghavender, who was driving the SUV, might have tried to escape in the vehicle. His vehicle was found stuck on the loose soil next to the road about half a kilometre away on Ibrahimpatnam-Karnamguda road. “The accused must have followed Raghavender and shot him in the chest. It looks like an act done by professionals. We do not know whether they used a car or a bike. We are verifying the CCTV footage,” said a senior Rachakonda cop.
During the probe, police found that Raghavender was accused in a double murder case in 2013 in the city and Srinivas was accused in an assault case in 2016. “We are gathering details of the cases against the two victims and their present status,” Ibrahimpatnam ACP Balakrishna Reddy said.
The agricultural venture supervised by Srinivas is surrounded by real estate ventures. There were makeshift huts of labourers near the spot where Srinivas was killed and cops have summoned the labourers who have been working there for questioning to gather details about the assailants.
